Job Description

The Operations Manager is responsible for all logistical aspects of Empower Generation’s program in Nepal.  Empower Generation currently trains and supports women-led businesses to sell solar lanterns and solar home systems to bottom-of-the-pyramid customers throughout Nepal.  Key responsibilities of the position will be managing business support, procurement, supply chain, warrantee fulfillment, and integration with mobile payments providers.  Candidates for the position must have a demonstrated track record and educational experience in a business and data analytics field, with particular emphasis on candidates with past business development and early-stage company process implementation.  Ability to work closely with a team, and respect for colleagues of all genders, cultures, and experience are absolute requirements.  The candidate must embody not just the day to day responsibilities of the position but also support, reflect, and be motivated by the key goals of the organization to empower women and our customers.  This position could entail significant growth opportunities for the right candidate.  

Job Specification

                                            Core Responsibilities

1.      Serve as logistics and business expert on all aspects of procurement and supply chain for import/distribution of solar home systems, integration with internal and external Information Technology systems, and work closely with internal and external party technology suppliers to achieve the organization’s goals. Bring on new products.	35 % of Time
2.Provide direct oversight to technical officer and coordinate with other staff.	15%
3.Establish and manage relationships with key project partners mobile payment providers, wholesale product vendors both locally and as imported, and others.	15%
4.      Manage customer experience, reporting for network performance, financial health, and PAYG systems (PPA contracts to customers).	25%
5.      Support in-country Information Technology (IT) needs including but not limited to CRM integration, cloud-based software integration, email, phones, hardware, telecom, utilities, etc.	10%

Education:

• Degree in business, economics, or international development; MBA preferred
• Fluent in both Nepali and English
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certified preferred

 

Experience:

• 2+ years in a leadership role managing at least 5 people
• Experience with a multi-international company or organization preferred
• Experience with solar, consumer electronics, telecom, or mobile money preferred
• Demonstrated experience in building strategic relationships with internal and external project partners and stakeholders
• Adept at project management – has run a dynamic project with several internal and external stakeholders and drove the team to meet milestone deadlines.

Job Skills:

• Excellent technical and analytical skills, 
• Superior communication and writing abilities.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Thorough understanding of business processes, and entrepreneurship
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Salesforce and Google applications necessary.
• Proficiency in using mobile apps for data collection preferred.
• Ability to function and prioritize effectively when presented with tight deadlines
• Ability to multi task and take initiative in ambiguous situations.
• Demonstrated relationship building skills and ability to influence others.
