Job Description

Nepal Eye Program, Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology (T10), a comprehensive eye care service delivery including training; research; intraocular lens manufacturing facility; community program and eye bank is currently looking for qualified Nepali female candidates to apply for the following positions on the contract basis:

Sr. Project Officer-(No. of Requirement :1)- Level 7

The Project Officer (P0) is responsible for the coordination, implementation and reporting of Gender and Eye Health Project in implementing hospitals and Community Eye Centers (CECs). She will effectively implement existing projects and achieve all end results as per the approaches/processes stipulated in Project Implementation Plan (PIP) of the assigned projects. For this, the incumbent has to undertake rigorous coordination, implementation and reporting.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Master Degree in Gender Studies and or/and relevant subject with minimum of 3 years working experience.
  • Previous experience in planning, implementation, research, monitoring, reporting and working through partners are desirable.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, including fluency in written and spoken in English and Nepali.
  • Excellent knowledge and capability utilizing Microsoft Office software, internet explorer and e-mail.

Responsibilities:

  1. Be responsible to make project team, and other internal and external stakeholders familiar with the Project goal, purpose, end outcomes, approaches/process etc
  2. Be responsible to implement all planned activities of annual work plan through mobilizing project team and ensure that exact approaches or processes stipulated in the PIP are followed;
  3. Implement M & E plan of the project as per the M & E matrix stipulated in the PIP;
  4. Conduct regular review and coordination meetings with relevant stakeholders including Government , share the project progress, learning, issues and ways to resolve the issues;
  5. Get partners' accounting report as per agreed deadline, review them against project progress and approved budget lines and submit to the Project manager as per agreed deadline.
  6. Ensure that the project expenditure are in line with the approved budget and rules and regulations of the TIO and funding agency;
  7. Prepare reports in time and submit to TIO Management as per agreed timeline;
  8. Maintain high level coordination with all stakeholders.

Organization Summary

Nepal Eye Program was officially launched in July 1992 to support the prevention & control of blindness in Nepal and the region. Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology (TIO) is the implementing body of the Nepal Eye Program, a not-for-profit, community-based, non-government organization. With an aim to act as a model for treatment, research and training, independent yet working in co-operation with all other eye care centres and organizations in Nepal, the current TIO facility was opened in 1994.

In the early years, working with The Fred Hollows Foundation (FHF), Australia, TIO played a key role to help refine and adapt a practical, safe, and affordable technique of intraocular lens implant for cataract surgery in developing countries. Another key achievement in the early days was the establishment of the country's first eye bank, in conjunction with Tissue Banks International in Baltimore, USA, and Lions International.
