Job Description

RAP3 is funded by UKAid and seeks to increase the economic opportunities available to the poorest and most vulnerable people in remote districts in Nepal by providing employment through maintaining and upgrading district roads, constructing new roads and economic infrastructure, introducing income generating activities, and building institutional capacity required for sustainable development.

The RAP3 Internship Programme for Civil Engineers is seeking several graduated Civil Engineers for a 6 month, salaried internship working on rural road asset management in one of RAP3's 14 district teams. Applicants must have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (B.E.) from a recognized university, must possess a good working knowledge of written and spoken English, and must be available to start from 15th November 2016. No previous experience working in the road sector is required.

Eligible applicants should apply, before Monday 5th September 2016, through the following process:

1.    Login our official website www.rapnepal.com under the section Job and submit an essay, written in high-quality English in your own words. Submissions containing plagiarized text or quotations without proper acknowledgement of source will be disqualified. The essay should not be more than 500 words, with the title 'The Importance of Ethics in the Engineering Sector'.

2.   You should also submit your Curriculum Vitae listing your educational background and professional experience, if any.

A panel from RAP3 will shortlist applications for interview based on ranking of the essay. The decision to shortlist candidates lies solely with RAP3 and therefore cannot be challenged in any way. Applicants will be notified at the earliest possible date if they have been selected for interview and are discouraged from contacting the RAP3 office regarding the outcome of their application.

Organization Summary

Conceived in 1999 as a comprehensive poverty alleviation programme, UK Aid-funded RAP uses the construction of transport infrastructure as an entry point for improving the lives of the poorest and most marginalised people in remote areas of Nepal – communities with limited access to goods and social services.

Now in its third stage, RAP’s implementation has involved construction of tracks, trails and roads using labour-intensive, environmentally sound and climate resilient methods; alongside complementary socio-economic interventions. Besides the evident benefits of improved access, RAP has generated significant employment in rural areas, especially for women.
